PCT exhibition at the Town Hall - Friday 4 December
There is an exhibition at the Town Hall about the plans for the Primary Care Centre and a retirement village to be built on Quaker's Walk on Friday from 4-7pm.

The launch for the new book by Matthew McMurray on the history of Samuel Powell's House - no 8 Long Street - is being held at the Museum at 7pm on Tuesday 1st December. Come along, meet the author, and get your copy signed!

Help build Stonehenge – in a Day!
Come and help Stonehenge expert Julian Richards build Stonehenge at Wiltshire Heritage Museum in Long Street on Sunday 30 August 2009. Everyone will be able to help construct (out of cardboard and wallpaper) and decorate Trilithons and bluestones to recreate a smaller version of Stonehenge. The activity will take place in the Museum car park - or in the Lecture Hall if this summer's 'Barbour queue' weather continues. Come along at any time between 11am and 3pm. Entry is free.

Devizes International Street Festival - Bank Holiday Monday!
It's the 10th anniversary of the festival and it will be the biggest ever with an evening finale of fireworks, lights and music presented by The World Famous. It's a big, family event, with continuous all day programme of international Street Arts and live music, kids entertainment, food, drink and festival stalls.
Bands include: No 1 Station, Gee Baby I Love You, Shooglenifty and the Jaipur Kawa Brass Band. The Street shows will include: Fraser Hooper, Nakupelle, Chapeau Magique, Musical Ruth, Bedlam Oz, Bicycle Ballet, Alice & Alice, Raz'Bitumes and many many more.

Wiltshire Council Area Board launched
Monday night saw the first meeting of the Area Board of Wiltshire Council. Chaired by Laura Mayes, over 100 people were able to voice their priorities for the new Council in the Devizes area.

Stonehenge exhibition at Museum
Wiltshire Heritage Museum is hosting, FOR THREE DAYS ONLY, English Heritage's exhibition about the selected location for the new visitor facilities at Stonehenge.
It was recently announced that Airman's Cross had been chosen as the location for new visitor facilities at Stonehenge. Details of the new site, and proposals for the closure of the A344 are outlined in the exhibition.
Come along and let English Heritage have your view on the proposals.

Wadworths Beer Festival - Saturday 18 July
Taste a selection of Wadworth beers at the Wadworths Beer Festival, including special festival ales. There will also be live music, Hog roast, childrens games, barrel making demonstrations and tours of the new brew house, and cider and soft drinks will also be available

Queen Victoria is getting ahead
The statue of Queen Victoria that used to be at the corner by Quickfit is now in the garden of the museum. A sculptor, Geoffrey Stephenson, is preparing a new head for the statue, and was at the museum on Friday completing his clay model before he starts carving. Once completed, the statue will be moved to the almshouses on Victoria Road.

Food and Drink Festival launches on Saturday!
This Saturday is the start of the Food and Drink Festival. It starts on Saturday 18 June by taking over the Market Place for a cook-off between master chefs! For the full programme, see the Festival website.
Flowers for the War Memorial
Devizes Town Council have just put new flowers into the flower beds alongside the War Memorial. Admire them the next time you are in Long Street!

Website for Devizes begun
A group of people in Devizes, led by Devizes Development Partnership, have agreed to create a website for the town. The inital stage will be a holding page, and will then move to be a focal point for visitors to the town and a portal for the local community.
