Wiltshire Council Area Board launched

Monday night saw the first meeting of the Area Board of Wiltshire Council. Chaired by Laura Mayes, over 100 people were able to voice their priorities for the new Council in the Devizes area.

Stonehenge exhibition at Museum

Wiltshire Heritage Museum is hosting, FOR THREE DAYS ONLY, English Heritage's exhibition about the selected location for the new visitor facilities at Stonehenge.

It was recently announced that Airman's Cross had been chosen as the location for new visitor facilities at Stonehenge. Details of the new site, and proposals for the closure of the A344 are outlined in the exhibition.

Wadworths Beer Festival - Saturday 18 July

Taste a selection of Wadworth beers at the Wadworths Beer Festival, including special festival ales. There will also be live music, Hog roast, childrens games, barrel making demonstrations and tours of the new brew house, and cider and soft drinks will also be available

Tickets £5 in advance and £6 on the day. Entry includes a Wadworth half pint glass and 2 x 1/2 pint beer tokens.

Queen Victoria is getting ahead

The statue of Queen Victoria that used to be at the corner by Quickfit is now in the garden of the museum. A sculptor, Geoffrey Stephenson, is preparing a new head for the statue, and was at the museum on Friday completing his clay model before he starts carving. Once completed, the statue will be moved to the almshouses on Victoria Road.

Food and Drink Festival launches on Saturday!

This Saturday is the start of the Food and Drink Festival. It starts on Saturday 18 June by taking over the Market Place for a cook-off between master chefs! For the full programme, see the Festival website.

Flowers for the War Memorial

Devizes Town Council have just put new flowers into the flower beds alongside the War Memorial. Admire them the next time you are in Long Street!
